Reflecting on Professional Knowledge (804X1)
30 credits, Level 7 (Masters)
Autumn and spring teaching
Over the autumn and spring terms, you’ll reflect on how working with colleagues has shaped your development in research, policy and practice. You’ll use this to identify ongoing targets for growth as you move into Early Career Teaching.
You’ll draw on scholarship and pedagogic theory. Through key ‘learning moments’ over the year, you’ll show how a specific area of pedagogy has changed your practice and impacted your learning. This will help you understand the ITE curriculum and how it applies in school practice.
Through Curriculum Studies and Professional Studies, you’ll explore:
- current developments, initiatives and professional issues in education and in your subject or phase
- how theory, your classroom practice and observations, and the guidance from colleagues intersect.
You’ll learn in different ways, including lectures, workshops, tutorials and peer-learning. This will give you:
- opportunities to explore issues and ideas
- space to present assessment ideas and receive feedback
- resources with clear examples to guide your assignment.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We鈥檙e planning to run these modules in the academic year 2025/26. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
We鈥檒l make sure to let you know of any material changes to modules at the earliest opportunity.
