Childhood and Youth in the Contemporary World (847L6)

30 credits, Level 7 (Masters)

Spring teaching

Social sciences have long taken childhood and youth into account. However, these were often based on adult’s views about children.

More recently, this has shifted to children’s own perspectives and practices. This include how young people interact with and shape their environments, such as families and peers, education, and religious communities.

Topics covered in this module include:

  • young people in the context of play and labour
  • children’s bodies
  • spaces and mobilities
  • children’s experiences of, and responses to, violence.

You’ll engage with global theory and ethnographic material.
