Activism for Development and Social Justice (843L6)
30 credits, Level 7 (Masters)
Spring teaching
On this module, you’ll explore the ways activists and activism engages in development and social justice.
You’ll evaluate different approaches to activism through theories of social mobilisation, citizenship and politics. Using real-life examples, you’ll explore how activism addresses development and social justice.
You’ll cover a range of collective action, including:
- the use of petitions and lobbying of representatives
- the use of the arts in ‘interrupting’ everyday life
- mobilisation for protests and peaceful demonstrations
- non-violent direct action and social media activism.
You’ll apply these ideas to the design of your own activism campaign.
