On this module, you’ll examine:
- copyright law
- related rights
- unregistered and registered designs.
You’ll explore the main ideas behind intellectual property law and its philosophical and economic justifications. You’ll analyse specific issues in intellectual property, such as internet ‘piracy’.
While focusing on UK law and policy, you’ll also cover relevant parts of EU and international law.
Module learning outcomes
- Systematically understand and explain the main principles of copyright law, related rights, and designs in the UK.
- Apply the knowledge and understanding gained to the solution of problems and develop reasoned arguments on controversial aspects of the law.
- Undertake effective independent research on a topic using library resources.
- Identify and explain a range of contemporary issues in copyright law
