On this module, you’ll explore the basic ideas and principles of international law, analysing how they apply in global situations.
You’ll examine the legal basis of international law and key aspects such as:
- sources of the law
- actors within public international law
- the relationship between international law and national law
- how disputes are resolved.
Module learning outcomes
- Demonstrate and apply knowledge of the main principles of public international law and how international law fits within traditional understandings of the nature of law.
- Critically analyse principles of international law and their application in international disputes and to identify difficulties and benefits arising out of the international legal system.
- Demonstrate an ability to initiate and undertake research in the field of international law.
