15 credits in spring semester
Teaching method: Lecture, Seminar

This module analyses the fundamental philosophical values, cultural tenets, and socio-economic systems which have informed the historical relationship between China and Europe. It addresses these elements within a historical context in order to understand their significant impact on relationships within the globalized business world, with particular attention to etiquette, behavioural patterns, and international norms and practices of business past and present. The module is in two parts: the first explores the connection between philosophy and business ethics, while the second draws specific lessons from history. The critical analysis of both philosophy and key events in the history of China-Europe encounters allows students to understand the dynamics of contemporary global business.
