How do I log my attendance using the Sussex Mobile app?

How do I log my attendance for the session?

  1. Open the Sussex Mobile app and log in, selecting the Student profile if you are asked.
  2. Tap the Student Check in tile (which should say?Check In Now?when you are able to check in to your teaching session)
  3. Select the teaching session which is in progress.
  4. Your tutor will share the 6 character PIN (all letters) to allow you to check in.
  5. If you do not already have it set, the app will ask you to share location information, so that the university can verify you are in the vicinity of the lecture room.?
  6. You will have from the time they share that PIN to the end of your teaching session to complete check in to register your attendance. Select Check in and wait until it says you have checked in.
  7. Please speak to the teaching staff if you have trouble logging the pin so they can log you in manually.?

I have been unable to check in to my current teaching session – what should I do?

First please try the following:

  • Check you are using the latest version of the app. Visit your app store and update it if there is a newer version available.
  • Check you are inputting the correct PIN. If you have any letters incorrectly typed the green submit button will not be enabled.
  • Check you are logged in with your Sussex credentials (abc123@sussex.ac.uk) and in the Student profile. Log out and login again to check this.
  • Try the web version of the app www.sussex.ac.uk/mobile

If you still cannot check-in, please let your tutor know and they will be able to log your attendance manually. Alternatively, contact your school office if you have any concerns that your attendance has not been captured.

I can’t see my expected teaching session - what should I do?

  • Check you are in the Student Profile and logged in with your Sussex credentials (abc123@sussex.ac.uk). Log out and login again to check this.

  • If you still cannot see your teaching session, contact your Faculty office who will be able to check which modules you are registered on.

I do not want to share my location - what should I do?

  • The University does not track students' location, and will not store any individual's precise location. The location is only used to verify you are in the vicinity of the teaching room at the time you check in to that teaching session. If you chose not to share your location while using the app there may be some additional checks made to verify your attendance during the academic year.
